The free-to-attend event will see some of the county’s top strength athletes go head-to-head in a series of five challenges, competing for the title of Yorkshire’s Strongest Man and Woman 2026. Taking place from 10am on the lawned area in front of the M&S Outlet, the competition promises a full day of high-energy entertainment for visitors of all ages.

Organised by Man Beast Strongman Events, the contest will feature multiple categories, with up to 12 competitors for the men and five for women, showcasing incredible feats of strength across a range of disciplines.

Visitors can expect to see a variety of dramatic challenges throughout the day, including lifting, carrying and endurance-based tests, as competitors battle it out in front of a live audience. The event offers a rare opportunity to see strength sport up close, with spectators also able to meet athletes, take photos and be part of the atmosphere.

The competition will be overseen by experienced officials from the strongman circuit, including former three times UK’s Strongest Man Champion, Paul Smith and event director and two times Guinness World Record Holder Mark Anglesea, adding to the professionalism and excitement of the day’s proceedings.

Lyndsey Parry, centre manager at Lakeside Village, said:

"We’re delighted to welcome Yorkshire’s Strongest Man and Woman back to Lakeside Village. It’s a fantastic, high-energy event that always draws a great crowd and creates a real buzz across the centre.

“As part of our commitment to providing free events for our visitors, we’re proud to host this competition and give families the chance to enjoy something a little different as part of their day out. It’s also part of an exciting programme of activity that we have planned at the centre this summer to mark the centre’s 30th anniversary.”

The event has become a popular annual highlight at Lakeside Village, attracting both dedicated strongman fans and families keen to experience a unique and action-packed day out.

Andy said: “We are so excited for this year’s event which five challenges - a car or small van deadlift, Apollons Axle with 120kg men from the floor and 80kg for women, stone to shoulder with 20kg for men to failure and 80kg women to failure, Farmers walk of 120kg for men and 80kg for women and, new for this year, a vehicle hold.

“Last year both Josh Lancaster and Michaela Pearson retained their titles for the second year in a row – but is someone else waiting in the wings and ready to pounce and claim the title from them this year! We hope as many people as possible will come and join us to enjoy the spectacle and find out.”

Entry is free, with no booking required. Events are subject to change if there is bad weather.
