Lakeside Village Outlet Shopping on White Rose Way was unveiled to the public as The Yorkshire Outlet on 15 August 1996 and now, 30 years on, it remains a leading shopping destination for visitors and the local community alike.
“We’re so excited to be reaching the grand old age of 30 this year,” says Lyndsey Parry, centre manager at Lakeside Village.
“We are starting our celebrations with our beautiful floral celebration bench, created by Acacia Creative Studio in Rossington, providing a perfect backdrop for photos and we’re sure that we’ll get lots of visitors who are also celebrating 30th birthdays and anniversaries coming along to grab a photo.
“So much has happened in the last 30 years, from cultural shifts to changes in fashion, household trends, the way people shop, and more.
“To still be at the heart of the South Yorkshire community and going strong is a fantastic achievement.
“The centre has really evolved over the years and has grown to become a real destination for people, be it families looking for a day out, shoppers, or groups of friends or colleagues meeting for a coffee and a bite to eat.
“The team work very hard to make Lakeside Village a great place to visit, with outstanding facilities and stores on offer, and reaching this milestone is testament to that.”
Lyndsey added: “One area we’ve really established at Lakeside Village over the years is our work with the local community, including the independent and home-based makers, bakers and creators who come along to our monthly Artisan and Craft Fayres.
“We’ve also established strong links with community causes, including RSPCA Doncaster, Bluebell Wood and more recently with the City of Doncaster Council’s Neighbourhood teams.
“As we look ahead, these community ties will only strengthen, along with our commitment to a sustainable future for the centre, too.”
