Cantley Community Library and The Adult Family Learning Centre announce exciting new courses

Cantley Community Library working closely with the Adult Family Learning Centre have designed two new courses for the local community

Firstly, following the success of the pilot last year, we are running a photography course for 5 weeks commencing on Tuesday 25th April and running weekly between 2pm and 4pm. This course will help improve your digital skills through smartphone photography. It will check your current digital photography skills and confidence, including on a local wellness walk with your Smartphone. It will also help you to become more familiar with your own device.

Also new for 2023 is an Art course running for 6 weeks commencing on Friday 28th April and running weekly between 4pm and 6pm. This course will help you design your own memory book – a personal visual diary using text, collage, photography and recycled materials. Resources and refreshments will be provided and the course costs £3 per week (free to those on benefits)

For both courses you will need to be a Doncaster resident aged 19 or over so please bring some photo id and a utility letter. Places are limited so please contact the library to book your space – telephone 01302 535614 or email us at cantleycommunitylibrary@gmail.com

Cantley Community Library continue to raise funds through this years Co-op Community Fund. Our project is to develop the outside garden into a seating area for the community where we can serve refreshments. So, if you want to support our project and are a member of the Co-op then please select us via our cause profile page is https://membership.coop.co.uk/causes/67304. If you are not a member of the Co-op but shop there, then please do sign up to be a member and select our project and every time you spend money on Co-op goods you will be raising funds for our new outside seating area.

Commenting on the plans, Chairman Richard Halstead said “It is great to working with the Adult and Family Learning Centre and to be able to put on activities for the local community. The new Art and Smartphone Photography course are exciting and complement our other activities from Knit and Natter to our Jigsaw and Book Clubs. We continue to act as a warm space with magazines, puzzle books and a full selection of books to read so look forward to welcoming the local community into the library”.
