Step inside nearly 1,000 years of history as Tickhill Castle opens its gates for its one day of public access this year.
This remarkable Norman motte‑and‑bailey castle dates back to the 11th century and features a rare surviving gatehouse from the same period.
At its heart stands the Great Motte- the tallest early Norman motte in England — built soon after the 1066 Conquest and still an impressive sight today.
Visitors are welcome to explore the grounds, take in the remains of this ancient monument, and enjoy a unique chance to experience a site normally closed to the public.
To make the day even more special:
Gates open at 2pm, with last entry at 4.30pm.
A historic setting, live music, and great food — a perfect day out for all ages.
