Nestled on the edge of Thorne, The Delves is a unique area of wetland, woodland and open water that offers visitors the chance to experience one of Doncaster's most distinctive natural landscapes. Formed from former clay extraction pits, the site has evolved into a rich habitat for wildlife, attracting a variety of bird species, insects and aquatic life throughout the year.

Delves Ponds and Fishery

A 13 acre site of two fish ponds set in a very attractive area, well used by people from many locations, excellently administered on the Councils behalf by the Thorne and District Angling Association, as too are the Canal fishing rights.

The play area at The Delves is a popular place for local children and families to enjoy some time outdoors in a lovely setting.

Located close to the Delves fishing ponds and surrounding open space, the play area offers a range of equipment where children can climb, explore, play and burn off some energy. It provides a great place for families to visit as part of a wider trip to The Delves, with plenty of space nearby for walking, picnics and enjoying the outdoors.

The wider Delves area also includes the fishing ponds, accessible paths, picnic seating and café, making it a well-used community destination throughout the year.
