Speak Up Celebration Event and Sharing

Speak Up Celebration Event and Sharing
  • Venue/Location:Cast
  • Date: 28 Jun 23
  • Tickets:Free

Speak Up is a secondary school programme with a difference. Young people, teachers and artists are equal partners, and work collaboratively with local arts organisations and the National Theatre to create artworks and creative work that respond to issues that are important to them.

Developed for young people whose voices are not always heard, bespoke activity is co-created with each school and its students.

Over the past academic year, the young people in our five partner schools have been developing their confidence, creativity, connection, voice, agency and now have the opportunity to share their work with the city. Working in collaboration with artists from the region they have created some thought-provoking and beautiful works of art.

We invite you to hear what the young people of Doncaster have to say at the Speak Up Celebration Event.

The Celebration Event will include a performance in our Main Space and exhibitions in our Front of House areas. These pieces have been created by young people from our five partner schools - Don Valley Academy, The McAuley Catholic High School, De Warenne Academy, Hall Cross Academy and Doncaster School For The Deaf.

Each of them are very different and it is going to be a brilliant evening with 6 groups and approximately 90 young people sharing their work as part of the Celebration Event.
