An exhibition about Doncaster Corporations’ own band of musicians ‘The Waites’.
First appointed in 1457, they provided musical entertainment to the Corporation and citizens of Doncaster until their dismissal in 1832.
Provided with livery and paid a retainer, the Waites were an essential part of the civic life of Doncaster.
The exhibition brings to life the history and duties of the Waites, as well as their clothing and instruments.
