Lakeside Village in Doncaster is thanking the generosity of its customers over the festive period who have helped raise over £2,000 for a local youth theatre.
Donations from visitors to the centre’s popular Santa’s Grotto saw a total of £2,219 raised for Cast Youth Theatre, helping children and young people build confidence, explore creativity, and make memories that will last a lifetime.
The free grotto, which welcomed hundreds of visitors throughout the Christmas season, was not only a highlight for children and families meeting Santa but also a meaningful way to support local arts and young talent. Donations were encouraged with all money raised going to Cast theatre’s Youth Theatre which offers young people across Doncaster a safe, welcoming space to develop their talents, perform on stage and discover new skills.
Abby Chandler, deputy centre manager at Lakeside Village, said: “We’re thrilled with the response to our Santa’s Grotto this year. It’s wonderful to see families enjoying the festive experience while knowing that their visit is making a real difference to local young performers.
“Supporting Cast’s Youth Theatre is something we’re incredibly proud of and we would like to thank everyone who visited the grotto and contributed to this fantastic cause. Together, we’ve made this festive season truly special for the community.”
Clare Clarkson, Cast’s interim director, said: “We’re incredibly grateful for the support of Lakeside Village - and the generosity of their customers - who have helped us raise this tremendous amount for Cast Youth Theatre. It will make a real difference to many of the young people who take part, helping them build confidence and creativity. As a charity, the support of our local community is always very important to us.”
