Run in Doncaster each year, The Grimthorpe Chase is a National Hunt steeplechase that contains 19 jump fences. The distance has varied over time, but currently sits at a little over 3 miles and 2 furlongs.
This strong test is frequently seen as a trial for the Aintree Grand National in April, as many winners (such as The Last Samuri and Definitely Red) have gone on to be favourites in the Merseyside race.
