Gresley: Genius of Steam and Speed
- Venue/Location:Danum Gallery, Library and Museum
- Date: 23 Apr 24 - 21 Sep 24
To celebrate the 100th anniversary of the naming of Flying Scotsman, this exhibition brings together a range of objects and letters telling the story of the man who designed it, Sir Nigel Gresley.
Featuring a selection of letters and notebooks from Nigel Gresley’s own hand, to artefacts such as his hat and passport, this fascinating exhibition will bring to life Gresley’s own life and career, while also remembering some of those unknown Doncaster people who made his extraordinary achievements possible.
Additional materials for the exhibition, including the audio-visual app guide, were supported and created by XP Trust students, who recently published their book ‘Rail City’.
There is also the opportunity to design your own locomotive and enter our competition!
The exhibition is a collaboration between The Trustees of the Doncaster Grammar School Railway Collection, The Gresley Society Trust, Heritage Doncaster, and XP Trust.
