Do you have what it takes to win the Dragon Boat Challenge 2020...
The annual Dragon Boat Race at Lakeside where teams take to the water to compete for the winner’s crown – all whilst raising money for charity. With the odd man or woman overboard, food and drink stalls and a few added attractions, it is a great event for all the family to enjoy...
Visit Doncaster and Rotary Club of Doncaster St George’s Dragon Boat Challenge will be held on Saturday 4th July 2020 on the lake at Lakeside, Doncaster. It will be the 11th Anniversary of this event which so far has helped to raise over £127,000 for local charities and good causes supported by the Rotary Club of Doncaster St George’s.
Dragon Boat Racing caters for all adult ages in one crew, male and female, mixed abilities and people with disabilities. It requires no previous experience and above all is great fun, consisting of 10 paddlers and 1 drummer, competing in 30 foot Dragon Boats.
The racing event is run by Gable events who are the country’s leading specialist organiser of this type of event.
Each team has 3 races over a 250 meter course with the fastest timed 9 teams going through to the semi-final races and the 3 fastest qualifying battling it out in the final race to be crowned the Dragon Boat Challenge Champions of 2020.
The event is covered by a professional Race Commentator and is run to very strict rules with accurate electronic timing.
Competition will be fierce but fun to take the crown of last year’s winners EMDT Rampton Raiders who won the title of Dragon Boat Challenge Champions 2019.
The winners receive a trophy along with winner’s medals and free entry in to the following year's event, with the second and third teams also receiving medals.
As part of the day’s events there will be a fun fair, craft and charity stalls and a range of food and drink stalls, providing for a fun and entertaining day for competitors and spectators, which is FREE to attend. Invite your work-mates, friends and family along to cheer your team on!
As in previous years, there will also be an all-female final, subject to sufficient all-female teams entering.
Teams pay an entry fee of £350 (inclusive of VAT) per team and also agree to raise a minimum of £30 per team member for their chosen charity. ALL the money raised will be passed to The Rotary Club of Doncaster St George's, of which 70% will be returned to the Team Captain for presentation to their chosen Charity.
The entry fee is used solely to pay the associated costs of Gable Events to run and manage this event. Once the entry fee has been paid, no refunds shall be given should a team be unable to take part.
If you are not able to raise a team from within your own company, you can have a joint team with another company and also include family members and friends with up to 15 team members per team.
Bawtry Paintball and Laser Fields are once again sponsoring this event and will provide each team that takes part with a VIP package for up to 24 people. The package not only includes entry to the paintball fields but also to the new high ropes, tree trekking and quick flight activity worth up to £400.
