Doncaster Museum & Art Gallery
The permanent museum collections are housed in the award-winning River and Road Gallery, which tells the story of Doncaster and its region through the River Don and Great North Road routes. A friendly museum that tells the story of the Doncaster area from the end of the last Ice Age to the present day. Among the highlights are the unique Roman Danum Shield, our nine Doncaster Gold Cups, dating back to 1779 and the Edward medals received for rescue work at the Bentley Pit Disaster of 1931.
The first floor galleries house the museum's fine art collection and host a vibrant programme of temporary exhibitions.
The museum also contains the King's Own Yorkshire Light Infantry (KOYLI) Regimental Museum.
Collections focus on archaeology, natural history, paintings, sculpture, glass and ceramics (especially Yorkshire pottery).
