Round Donny Run raises cash for Doncaster Deaf Trust

Runners who were hoping to take part in this year’s Round Donny Run have donated money to Doncaster Deaf Trust despite the race being cancelled.

Competitors to the race were offered a refund and many decided to donate the money to the charity instead.

Alexis Johnson, executive principal of Doncaster Deaf Trust said: “We know how frustrating the cancellation of the race will have been to runners who were looking forward to taking part and we are extremely grateful to them for their kind donation.

“The organisers of the race are looking forward to reorganising the event in 2021 and we’ll be working with them to offer our support.”

The £225 donation will be used to provide extra equipment for pupils and students who are still learning from home due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Tony Vout, organiser of the Round Donny Run said: “We are really pleased that a number of people who’d signed up to take part in the run chose to donate their entry fee to Doncaster Deaf Trust.

“We are looking forward to bringing the race back in 2021 and we know that our runners will be happy to know that their money has gone to such a good cause.”
