Local travel agent wins big at global awards
Local travel agent Trevor Smith is celebrating after winning a prestigious accolade at the annual Travel Counsellors conference. He beat over 1,500 people to bring home the title of ‘Most Helpful Travel Counsellor,” following overwhelming messages of gratitude from a number of colleagues.
Doncaster-based Trevor, who runs his travel management business from home, scooped the award at this year’s star-studded ceremony, which recognises the very best talent within Travel Counsellors’ network of franchisees. This is his tenth year with the business, having worked in the travel industry for several decades, and he prides himself on a loyal client base which has continued to expand both in size and reach. Trevor is a keen mentor for other Travel Counsellors, and regularly provides help and advice for newcomers to the business – an attribute which led to his award win.
The conference, which was held in Manchester, was attended by speakers such as Green & Black’s co-founder Jo Fairley and Dame Kelly Holmes, and included intimate performances from comedian Jack Whitehall and Ronan Keating. The outstanding work of Travel Counsellors was rewarded with awards and prizes totalling over £140,000, including two Audi cars for those achieving top customer satisfaction scores.

Trevor said: “My business motto is “Just Say Yes”. Whether it’s booking the trip of a lifetime for a disabled client who may have previously felt they couldn’t travel, answering calls out-of-hours for clients who work long shifts or helping a fellow colleague with a tricky booking, I will always make myself available and endeavour to provide the very best service I possibly can. This award is testament to that fact, and I’m hugely proud to be recognised by my peers in this way.”
