Help to bring unique house back to life in Doncaster

Proposals to create ‘The Sand House Experience’, a visitor attraction themed on Doncaster’s unique former Victorian mansion and its awesome tunnels, have taken a step closer to reality.

An online survey, aimed at gathering support for the project and influencing its design, has already been completed by hundreds of people.

The team leading the project is keen to obtain the views and support of as many people as possible, in order to give it the best possible chance of success.

The online survey is available at

As an added incentive, everyone who completes the survey during 2015 has the chance to win a copy of the book ‘The Sand House – A Victorian Marvel Revisited’, signed by one of its co-authors, Richard Bell.

A major feature of the proposed visitor attraction will be a replica of the Sand House’s Cloisters tunnel, complete with its marvellous carvings of kings, queens, an elephant and much more. Visitors will absorb the story of the Sand House from a range of multimedia sources.

The attraction will also include the UK’s only permanent indoor sand sculpture studio, where experts and novices alike, can create their own sand carvings.
