Doncaster joins ‘I am team GB’ with free swimming and cycling
South Yorkshire folk are being invited to take part in the Nation’s Biggest Sports Day as Doncaster Culture and Leisure Trust (DCLT) puts on free swimming and cycling activities this Saturday (24 August).
Inspired by the achievements of Team GB athletes and the amazing efforts of local community heroes, I Am Team GB have created the Nation’s Biggest Sports Day, taking place on Saturday 24 August 2019. There will be hundreds of free and fun
activities across the country, put on by amazing volunteers, known as I Am Team GB Games Makers.
Michael Hart, chief executive of DCLT, said: “We couldn’t let the Nation’s Biggest Sports Day pass without offering a chance for our local communities to get active for free.
“There will be free swimming sessions at five of our pools and a free cycle class at the Dome. People need to book and we are sure that the places will booked up quickly so grab a spot and come and join in the fun for free”
All participant will receive an I am GB certificate.
Swimming sessions are: Askern Leisure Centre 9.30am – 11am, Adwick Leisure Complex 11.30am – 1.30pm, Dearne Valley Leisure Centre 1pm – 2.30pm, Rossington Community Swimming Pool 11am – 12.30pm and Thorne Leisure Centre 12pm –
2pm. The cycle class will take place at The Dome between 11am and 12 noon.
