5 of The Best - 1st-3rd February

Well done Doncaster, we made it! January is finally over and February is here.

There's lots happening in Doncaster this month and as it's the sortest month, we have ot cram it all in. This weekend kicks us off in style with great ideas for families, couples, music lovers and more. Take a look and start planning your first weekend in February in style.

1. Doncaster & District CAMRA Mini Beer Festival

Hall Cross Pub & Live Venue,  33-34 Hallgate, Doncaster, DN1 3NL

Thursday 31st Jan 17:00 - Sunday 3rd Feb 22:00

See off Dry January in style with the local branch of CAMRA setting up home in The Hall Cross for a Mini Beer Festival this weekend.

Entry is free and pints start from £2.50. There's plenty to sample too with over 25 beers and ciders on offer in what organisers are dubbing a 'Modern Classics Beer Festival'.

Please enjoy responsibly - don't spill. 

2. John Reilly in Concert with Lewis Nitikman

Doncaster Little Theatre, 1 King Street, Doncaster, DN1 1JD

Friday 1st Feburary 20:00

A John Reilly concert is almost a spiritual event. An evening where every emotion is touched and unleashed in a uniquely intimate atmosphere created by his intensely profound lyrics and stunning vocals. Joined by Canadian long term writing partner Lewis Nitikman on piano. 

With a huge number of famous fans and much critical acclaim, it's another treat for Doncaster to host this incredible singer/songwriter and enter his world through music.

3. Toyah

From punk princess to cult stage actress to high priestess of TV, TOYAH WILLCOX is a uniquely gifted performer with an inextinguishable flame. Charismatic, outspoken and impossible to categorise, she is one of Britain's iconic household names - an award-winning rock legend as well as a much-loved stage/screen actress and music composer.

In a career spanning over 40 years, Toyah has amassed thirteen top 40 singles, recorded twenty-four albums, written two books, appeared in over forty stage plays, acted in fifteen feature films and presented hundreds of television programmes.

4. Saturday Family Workshop

The Point, South Parade, Doncaster, DN1 2DR

Saturday 2nd February 10:00-12:00

These lovely art and craft workshops are suitable for children aged 5+. To book or make an enquiry, email darts@thepoint.org.uk or phone 01302 341662. £4 per family

Join professional artists to create and learn together as a family.
Sessions run 10am-12pm. Booking essential.

This month it's all things LOVE as The Point ask 'Be my Valentine?' Using simple printmaking techniques, create your own Valentine-inspired cards with artist Samantha Groom.

5. Wedding Open Day

 The Crown Hotel, High Street, Bawtry, DN10 6JW
