Visitors can make the most of the summer sunshine, with last entry at 7pm, animal walk-throughs and play areas are open until 8pm, and on the concert-field the evening’s entertainment continues until just after 9pm. From 5pm there’ll be live music and entertainment to enjoy with local bands, live acoustic acts, face-painting* and the return of the fantastic Black Eagles acrobats. At sunset visitors, will head over to the Wild-Life stage for the evenings headline entertainment, starting at 7.30pm.

YWP gives a unique walk through experience bringing them almost face to face with some of the world’s most rare animals, including Amur Leopards, Giraffes, Painted Hunting Dogs along with Lions, Lemurs and Meerkats.

Whatever the weather there is something to do at YWP, with indoor play areas, restaurants and shopping opportunities. There is the Safari Village shopping centre and café, which can be accessed without having to enter the park.

Union J Saturday 12th August

Since X Factor 2012, Union J have performed around the world and bring their incredible live show to the Park on 12th August.

Now a three-piece after the departure of Casey Johnson, the band have been working on new material, with the first single off their new album set to release in August and their album in early 2018.

The 12th of August also features “Girls Alouder” (tribute).

3. Balby by The Sea

Balby by the Sea is a one day event, transforming Woodfield Club in Balby into a seaside extravaganza for the day.

The community created the project with Kate Sully (Art Supporter for Balby from 2013-2016) as part of Phase One of Right Up Our Street, the first version having happened in 2015 with trapeze artists, walkabout theatre performance, arts and crafts workshops, and all the food and fun of the seaside. The event was free and more than 800 people attended from the surrounding villages.

The event happened again in 2016 with the Balby Community Arts team (the newly costituted group) organising the day and once again the event was at capacity for attendance and had beautiful summer weather!

Balby by the Sea is set to take place again on 12th August 2017 with an international theme (Balby by the Sea 'Goes on a Cruise'), with incredible treats and surpirses on offer - not to be missed.

Saturday 12th August: 12pm - 5pm.

4. 999 Emergency Services Day

Family fun day throughout the town centre and the market square on Saturday 12th August 9:30am - 4pm.

Why not come along for a fantastic family day out and join all the emergency service in keeping the history of the emergency service and their vehicles alive?

Come and see how the emergency service have changed over the years and look inside old and new emergency service vehicles, climb inside and try on the uniforms or why not speak to the many emergency services and learn lots of safety advice.

Please note some display can be cancelled or withdrawn at short notice leading up-to the event or during the event, due to operational requirements (some display will be on-call out for emergencies thought out the event).

5. Get Doncaster Walking - Consibrough Circular Walk

Get Doncaster Walking 2017 is continuing into the second half of the year and still offering ‘healthy walks’ to encourage Doncaster residents to get more active out in their local community, appreciate Doncaster’s large open green spaces and have some fun.

There are a large selection of walks varying in distance, locations and days of the week. Hopefully something available and suitable for all. We are still dividing our walks into the ‘stroller’ and ‘strider’ categories, with a ‘stroller’ walk being delivered at a slow pace and suitable for all. A ‘strider’ has a slightly faster pace and can be more challenging for some. .

On Saturday 12th August come along and rendezvous at Conisbrough Castle visitors centre, Castle Hill DN12 3BU before 10:30am for a prompt start, to participate in this 5 mile stroller. Taking in stunning views of Ladies Valley and the Denaby Crags hillsite, this hidden gem has lots to offer and plenty of history to discover. This walk is wheelchair and pushchair friendly, but no dogs please.
