3 DONCASTER CHARITIES TO ‘PASS GO’
Three Doncaster charities are being sought from today to get the ‘Chance’ to star on the brand new official MONOPOLY game for the town.
The charities will get to be immortalised on the board - on three of the game’s Community Chest and Chance spaces
"It's our way of thanking the public for getting behind the game so very enthusiastically," says Afolabi Omotola, Custom Games Executive at Winning Moves UK, makers of the new game under license from MONOPOLY owners Hasbro.
To qualify the charities have to be "clearly Doncaster focused", adds Mr Omotola.
And they must also be currently registered with The Charity Commission.
It was announced on March 5th that Doncaster is ‘Passing GO’ and landing its very own official MONOPOLY game.
At the time of the announcement – which was at The Mansion House – the public was invited to vote for general landmarks to feature in the game. More than 2,000 nominations within the first week had been sent to the game’s makers. Of the suggestions the Mansion House has polled very well. Also polling well have been The Dome, the Keepmoat Stadium and the racecourse.
Polls closed last night (Wednesday 18th March 2020).
But now, from today (19th March 2020), polls are RE-OPENING for nominations for charities specifically and remain open for one week.
“The response has been fantastic,” adds Mr Omotola. "We would like to formally thank each and every person who has sent in nominations and as our way of a big thank you, three Doncaster charities will now get to star on their very own Community Chest and Chance spaces.”
The new game will be available from this October at all major retailers, as well as very widely online including Amazon.
Votes for Doncaster charities to feature in the game via two ways: 1. By email to: email@example.com . 2. To the official Doncaster MONOPOLY Facebook page. Charity polling is now underway and closes at 23.59pm next (Wednesday 25th March 2020).
